Local knowledge

What a move in Pompano Beach really involves

Beachfront high-rises. Along A1A, most condo towers book the service elevator in fixed windows and want the mover's certificate of insurance on file before the truck arrives, often 48 to 72 hours ahead. Miss the window and the crew waits, and waiting is billed. Our apartment and condo movers page covers how those buildings work.

Two drawbridges to the island. The barrier island is reached over the Atlantic Blvd bridge and the NE 14th St Causeway. A bridge opening for boat traffic can hold a loaded truck for several minutes, which matters on an hourly move and on a tight elevator slot.

Canal-front streets. East of Federal Hwy, in Harbor Village, Santa Barbara Shores and next door in Lighthouse Point, dead-end streets are narrow and driveways short. Where the truck can park decides how long the carry is, so we ask before we quote.

55+ and retirement communities. Leisureville, John Knox Village and the Palm Aire condos have their own move rules, approved hours and paperwork. Families often arrange these moves by phone from out of state.

Two seasons that move the calendar. Snowbird season runs November to April, when weekend dates fill weeks ahead. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, with heat, afternoon storms and the occasional storm-week reschedule. Read more in our snowbird season moving guide.

Condos, HOAs and high-rises

The access-ready Pompano move: condos, HOAs and high-rises

Most surprise charges on a Pompano Beach move start at the building, not in the truck. A missed elevator window, a certificate of insurance that arrives a day late or a truck that cannot use the loading area turns a four-hour job into a six-hour one. So we treat the access work as part of the move: building rules, elevator, loading zone, parking and the weather plan get settled before anyone picks a date.

Confirm the building rules before you sign

Ask your property manager or association for the current move packet first. In Palm Aire, Leisureville and the towers along A1A it usually spells out the allowed move hours, the service elevator procedure, deposits and the insurance wording the mover has to provide.

  1. Ask the building manager for the current move packet and its deadlines.
  2. Reserve the service or freight elevator and get the move window confirmed in writing.
  3. Confirm the loading dock, curb space, truck-size limits and where the truck may park.
  4. Send us the certificate of insurance requirements, including any additional-insured wording and the deadline, so the mover can confirm it can meet them.
  5. Reconfirm the plan with the building and with us a day or two before the move.

Why the bedroom count alone cannot set the price

Two one-bedroom condos can take very different amounts of time. Elevator size, narrow hallways, stairs, door widths, the walk from the truck to the entrance and the protection the building requires all change the labor. That is why we ask for photos or a quick video of the entry, elevator, hallway and the largest pieces.

  • Elevator dimensions and the reserved time window
  • Stair flights, tight turns and hallway length
  • Loading dock height, truck clearance and walking distance
  • Parking permits, curb access and security desk or gate instructions
  • Door and passage measurements for sofas, armoires and headboards
  • Floor, wall and elevator protection the building requires

A long carry is the distance between the spot where the truck can legally and safely park and the building entrance. An accessorial charge is an added fee for work outside the quoted scope, such as stairs, a long carry, elevator waiting time or difficult parking. Both belong in the written estimate before loading, never as a surprise at the end of the day.

Waterfront, heat, rain and storm-season planning

Homes along the Intracoastal Waterway, the Pompano Canal and the Cypress Creek Canal, and buildings east of A1A, deal with salt air, humidity, sudden downpours and, from June 1 to November 30, the occasional storm that shuts a week down. A good plan covers what happens when the weather turns, not just the sunny-day version.

  • Floor runners, stretch wrap and moisture-resistant covers for upholstery, mattresses and cartons
  • A written rescheduling and storage policy kept with the estimate
  • No loading in unsafe wind, lightning or flooding, even if the date has to move
  • A backup plan for a postponed elevator window or a closed road or bridge

How it works

From the first call to the last box

  1. You call

Tell us the addresses, the date, the size of the home and the tricky parts: elevator slot, stairs, piano, narrow canal street.

  2. We match a crew

We line the job up with an independent, registered and insured local mover that has the crew size and equipment it needs.

  3. You get the price in writing

The mover gives you a written estimate and contract before move day, so labor, travel, materials and extras are on paper.

  4. The job gets done

The crew protects floors and elevators, loads, drives and places everything room by room. You check the inventory before signing off.

On move day

  • The crew confirms the inventory and any changes before starting
  • Floors, door frames and the elevator are protected first
  • Furniture is wrapped and agreed pieces are taken apart
  • Cartons are checked for seals and room labels and kept out of the rain
  • Any existing damage is noted with you before loading

At delivery

  • The destination elevator, loading zone and building contact are confirmed in advance
  • Furniture is placed room by room and agreed pieces are reassembled
  • You walk through every room before the crew leaves
  • Anything missing or damaged goes on the delivery paperwork
  • The estimate, contract, inventory and photos stay together

Costs and estimates

Pompano Beach moving costs: what changes the price

We do not publish a price list, because a number quoted before anyone knows the building, the floor and the inventory is not a real number. The written estimate from the mover is. What we can tell you is exactly what moves that estimate up or down, so you can compare quotes properly.

  • Inventory volume and weight: how much is in the rooms matters more than how many rooms there are.
  • Crew size and hours: most local moves are billed by the hour with a minimum, and a larger crew can finish sooner.
  • Travel time: how the mover charges for the drive to you and back.
  • Access: stairs, elevator waits, long carries and parking.
  • Packing and materials: cartons, wardrobe boxes, mattress bags and specialty crates.
  • Specialty items: pianos, safes, glass tops and oversized furniture.
  • Date: weekends, month-end and the November to April snowbird season book first.
  • Route: across town, elsewhere in Florida, or across state lines.
  • Valuation coverage: the level of the mover's liability you choose.

Questions to ask before you compare quotes

  • Does travel time apply, and is there a minimum number of hours?
  • Are boxes, wardrobe cartons, mattress bags and specialty materials included or charged separately?
  • How are stairs, elevators, long carries and waiting time priced?
  • What happens to the price if the inventory changes after the survey?
  • Is the estimate binding, non-binding or a not-to-exceed maximum?
  • Are furniture disassembly and reassembly included?
  • Are taxes and the deposit shown?

Compare at least three written quotes line by line. A lower hourly rate can still cost more if the quote leaves out travel, materials or the elevator wait. Our guide to how much movers cost in Pompano Beach walks through a full comparison.

How to read a written estimate

Florida law requires a written estimate and contract before a household move, and for interstate moves the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recommends an estimate based on an in-person or virtual survey. Before you sign, check that yours lists:

  • The inventory, or the survey it was based on
  • Pickup and delivery addresses and the move dates
  • Labor, crew size, the hourly rate or flat price, and travel
  • Packing, materials and any storage
  • Access conditions: stairs, elevators, parking and long carries
  • The valuation coverage you chose
  • Deposit, taxes and payment milestones
  • The change-order policy for anything added on the day

Service levels

Choose the right moving option for your situation

The biggest package is not automatically the right one. Match the level of help to what is actually limiting you: time, mobility, fragile items, or a gap between move-out and move-in.

Each option has its own page: packing services, local movers for loading and unloading help and furniture and heavy item movers for pianos and safes.

Keep these with you, not on the truck

Movers generally will not carry hazardous materials, perishables or anything flammable, and some things should never leave your hands:

  • Medications
  • Passports, IDs and vital documents
  • Cash, jewelry and small valuables
  • Irreplaceable records and photos
  • Keys, chargers and the paperwork for the move

Ask the mover for its current prohibited-items list before you start packing.

Registration, valuation and claims

Check the mover, understand valuation, know the claim steps

"Registered and insured" should be something you can check, not a slogan. Every mover we send is registered with the State of Florida as required and insured, and this is how to confirm it yourself before you pay a deposit.

Check the mover before paying

  1. For a move within Florida, look up the mover's exact name in the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services registration records.
  2. For a move to another state, check the mover's USDOT number and operating authority in the FMCSA SAFER system.
  3. Make sure the name on the registration matches the estimate, the contract, the truck and whoever takes your payment.
  4. Read dated reviews on more than one platform instead of trusting a single badge.
  5. Ask for the certificate of insurance and check whether your building needs additional-insured wording.

Moves inside Florida and moves across state lines follow different rules. Florida movers register with FDACS under Chapter 507, Florida Statutes. Interstate movers need USDOT and MC numbers from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and with a non-binding interstate estimate you can be required to pay no more than 110% of the estimate at delivery, with any balance billed later. See FMCSA's Protect Your Move page and our step-by-step guide to checking a Florida mover's registration.

Understand valuation coverage

Valuation is the mover's declared liability for loss or damage under its contract. It is not a homeowner's insurance policy, and it is not full replacement value unless the contract actually says so. Before loading, ask:

  • What protection applies to furniture, electronics, artwork, antiques and pianos?
  • Are boxes you packed yourself covered the same way as boxes the crew packed?
  • Is there a deductible, and what is the deadline for a claim?
  • Does the coverage change if your goods go into storage?

Simple damage-claim walkthrough

  1. Photograph the item, its packaging and the area around it as soon as you notice the damage.
  2. Find the contract, inventory, condition notes and delivery paperwork.
  3. Report the damage or missing item using the mover's required method, inside its deadline.
  4. Describe the item, the damage, its value and the resolution you want, and keep the damaged materials until told otherwise.
  5. Keep copies of everything you send and receive.

Why choose us

Why Pompano Beach callers use Pompano Go Movers

Pompano Go Movers connects you with independent registered movers who perform the move. We are the people who pick up the phone, ask the right questions and stay on the line until the move makes sense on paper.

How we work Moving coordinator with a headset planning a move on a map of coastal Broward County at a Pompano Beach desk
  • One call, a straight answer

You talk to someone who knows the difference between a Palm Aire golf-course condo and a Hillsboro Shores waterfront house, and who tells you when a date is unrealistic.

  • Registered and insured, every time

Every mover we send is registered with the State of Florida as required and insured. You can check the registration yourself, and we show you how.

  • Price in writing before the truck shows up

Florida law requires a written estimate and contract for household moves. We make sure you know what yours should list before you sign it.

  • Building paperwork treated as part of the job

Certificates of insurance, elevator reservations and loading-dock windows get discussed on the first call, not discovered at the curb.

  • Crews sized to the job

A studio on Atlantic Blvd and a four-bedroom canal home in Lighthouse Point need different crews and trucks. We ask enough questions to match them properly.

  • No invented promises

We do not claim round-the-clock service or guaranteed arrival windows. When short-notice help is possible, we say so; when it is not, we tell you that too.

Service areas

Areas we serve around Pompano Beach

Pompano Beach plus five neighbors within about 25 minutes along the coast and I-95, including Hillsboro Beach and Sea Ranch Lakes. See all service areas.

Inside Pompano Beach the details change block by block: Old Pompano and the Atlantic Blvd corridor, the golf-course condos of Palm Aire, Leisureville and John Knox Village, canal homes along the Pompano Canal and Cypress Creek Canal, and the towers on A1A. A coordinator looks at your route along Federal Hwy, Atlantic Blvd, Copans Rd or I-95 and at the building's own rules instead of assuming every move here is the same. Knowing the roads helps the plan; it is not a promise about traffic or arrival times.

Call for scheduling (hours to be confirmed)

Page last reviewed .

How far ahead should I book a moving company in Pompano Beach?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most local moves. From November to April, when seasonal residents arrive and leave, weekend dates can fill three to four weeks out, so book earlier if your date is fixed. Month-end is the other crunch because leases turn over. Short notice is not hopeless: call (831) 293-1195 and we will check which crews still have an opening, and our last-minute movers page explains what helps.

Are the movers you send registered and insured?

Yes. Every mover we send is registered with the State of Florida as required and insured. Florida requires household movers to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and you can check any mover yourself before you sign. Our guide on how to check a Florida mover's registration walks through what to look up and what the paperwork should say.

How much do movers cost in Pompano Beach?

The honest answer is that the written estimate sets the price, and it depends on crew size, hours, travel time, stairs or elevator waits, long carries from where the truck can park, packing materials and the date. A fourth-floor condo with a timed elevator slot is priced differently from a ground-level ranch house in Cresthaven. Our Pompano Beach moving cost guide explains each factor and how to compare quotes line by line.

My condo building wants a certificate of insurance. Can the mover provide one?

Most registered movers can issue a certificate of insurance naming your building or association, but each building sets its own wording and deadline, and many ask for it 48 to 72 hours ahead. Get the building's requirements in writing first, then send them to us on the call so the mover can confirm it can meet them. We cannot promise a certificate on any timeline the mover has not agreed to. See our condo move rules guide.

What items will movers not take?

Movers generally will not carry hazardous materials such as paint, propane, gasoline and cleaning chemicals, or perishable food, and most will not take cash, jewelry or important papers. Keep medications, passports, vital documents, cash, jewelry and irreplaceable photos with you, along with keys, chargers and the paperwork for the move. Ask the mover for its current prohibited-items list before you start packing so nothing has to be unpacked on the day.

What does a written moving estimate include?

A useful written estimate lists the inventory or the survey it was based on, both addresses, the dates, the crew size and labor charges, travel, packing and materials, any storage, the access conditions (stairs, elevators, parking, long carries), the valuation coverage you chose, the deposit, taxes and the change-order policy. If an item is not written down, ask how it will be charged before you sign. Our cost guide shows how to compare two estimates line by line.

Should I choose full service, partial packing or labor-only help?

Choose full service when time or mobility is the real limit, partial packing when you want help only with the kitchen, art and fragile rooms, and labor-only help when you have already arranged a rental truck or container and just need people to load or unload it. Ask who supplies the materials, who packs ordinary items and which valuation terms apply to boxes you pack yourself. Our packing services page explains each level.

Does valuation coverage pay for damaged or missing items?

Valuation pays according to the mover's contract and the level of liability you chose, which is not the same as homeowner's insurance or automatic replacement value. Ask about exclusions, boxes you packed yourself, storage, deductibles and the claim deadline before loading. If something is damaged, photograph it right away, keep the packaging and report it the way the contract requires, inside its deadline.

Can movers work during hurricane season?

Yes. Moves happen all through June 1 to November 30, but unsafe wind, lightning, flooding, road or bridge closures and building shutdowns can force a change of date. Ask for the mover's rescheduling, storage and delivery policy in writing before you book, protect cartons and upholstery from rain, and avoid scheduling a tight closing right after a storm watch is posted.

Do you cover areas outside Pompano Beach?

Yes, within a short drive along the coast and I-95: Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Sea Ranch Lakes, Oakland Park and Wilton Manors. Each has its own page with local details. For moves that leave the area, our long distance movers page covers moves to other Florida cities and out of state.

What does Pompano Go Movers actually do on a move?

We take your call, ask the questions that decide how the day will go (access, parking, elevator, heavy items, dates) and match you with an independent, registered and insured local moving crew that fits the job. That mover gives you a written estimate and performs the move under its own contract. You get one number to call and a plain explanation before anyone shows up. The About page explains the model in full.
